Behavior Problems are the number one reason for euthanasia and abandonment of cats and dogs in the United States. Breckenridge Animal hospital is committed to helping our clients develop lasting relationships with their pets.
During our behavioral consultations, we will complete a full physical exam. In many cases there may be an underlying medical condition that needs to be addressed prior to solving a behavioral problem. During the complete nose to tail exam we will discuss your pet’s history, recommend blood work to identify underlying medical conditions. Once we have ruled out physical/medical conditions which could be causing the behavioral issues we will focus on developing a behavior modification plan. When needed, pharmaceuticals can be implemented to help assist with applying a behavior modification and counter conditioning program.
Some of the behavioral issues we can help owners address include:
- Storm Phobias
- Separation Anxiety
- Jumping
- Nipping/Mouthing
- Aggression
- Cognitive Dysfunction in aging pets
- Feline Inappropriate Urination/Defecation
- Puppy and Kitten Development
